EASTERN CARIBBEAN ASSET MANAGEMENT CORPORATION (ECAMC) RECEIVER FOR ABI BANK LTD. (IN RECEIVERSHIP)
VACANCY NOTICE
ECAMC receiver for ABI Bank Ltd. (In Receivership) (the “Receivership”) invites suitably qualified persons to apply to fill the post of Legal Counsel of the ABI Bank Ltd (In Receivership), headquartered in Antigua and Barbuda for an initial contractual period of two years.
ABI Bank Ltd. entered conservatorship on July 22, 2011 with the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (the “ECCB”) assuming control. On November 25, 2015, ABI Bank Ltd. was placed in receivership and on July 20, 2017, the ECAMC was appointed as receiver in the stead of the former receiver.
APPLICANTS MUST HAVE:
- At a minimum an LL.B and L.E.C and at least 5 years of postgraduate experience;
- Detailed legal knowledge relating to the disposal of collateral in Antigua and Barbuda, and debt collection generally;
- Sound knowledge of company/corporate law;
- Strong litigation experience; and
- Experience in commercial banking operations is a preferred asset.
APPLICANTS SHOULD ALSO HAVE:
- Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
- Ability to operate as a strategic thinker and team member;
- Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills; and
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
DUTIES
The successful candidate will report to the Manager, Asset Acquisition Management and Recoveries of the ECAMC. The key responsibilities will include:
- Conduct all litigation on behalf of the Receiver as instructed.
- Review loan files and collateral documents and provide legal advice as required.
- Conduct all auction sales, which include liaising with auctioneers, preparing auction notices for publication, vetting the auction agreement, and ensuring the Receiver discharge all obligations prior to closing.
- Advise on the collection and enforcement strategies on loans within the Receivership.
- Advise on responses to subpoenas, court orders, and requests for information from third parties.
- Conduct relevant searches at the Land Registry regarding collateral and Intellectual Property Office regarding the status of companies and directors of companies.
COMPENSATION
Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will include standard allowances applicable to the position. Applicants are also invited to indicate their minimum and average compensation package expectations. All compensation will be in Eastern Caribbean Dollars.
